Age, licence and deposit policy

Every rental at Schober requires a driver aged 25 or over who has held a full licence for at least three years. This applies across the fleet, from entry-level convertibles to the highest-output sports cars; we do not relax it for any category. When you enquire, tell us the model you want and we confirm the exact licence documents needed for your nationality.

The security deposit is taken as a hold on your credit card at collection, not a cash charge. The amount scales with the vehicle: higher-value and higher-performance cars carry a larger hold, reflecting their repair and replacement cost. We release the hold once the return inspection is complete and the car is checked against the handover condition report.

Insurance excess sits on top of the deposit and covers the portion of any damage cost you remain liable for under the rental terms. The exact excess figure depends on the model and is set out in your rental agreement before you sign. If you want the precise deposit and excess figures for a specific car, ask when you enquire and we will confirm both before you book.

How booking works

  1. 01

    Enquire with your dates

Send your pickup and return dates, preferred location, and the model you want so we can check availability.

  2. 02

    Submit licence and ID

Provide a clear photo of your driving licence and passport or ID so we can verify age and licence tenure in advance.

  3. 03

    Pay the security deposit

A credit card hold for the deposit is placed ahead of collection, with the amount set by the vehicle class.

  4. 04

    Collect or receive delivery

Pick the car up at our Ibiza Town base or have it delivered to the airport, port, your hotel or villa.

Requirements FAQ

What is the minimum age to rent a car?

You must be 25 or over and have held a full driving licence for at least three years. This applies to every vehicle in the fleet, including entry-level models.

Which licence types do you accept?

We accept full national and EU/EEA licences, plus international driving permits for visitors whose home licence is not printed in Latin characters. Bring the physical licence to handover; a photo alone is not enough to collect the car.

How is the deposit taken and when is it returned?

The deposit is a hold placed on your credit card at collection, not a charge. It is released after the return inspection confirms the car is back in its handover condition, within the same 09:00–20:00 office hours.

What does the insurance excess cover?

The excess is the amount you remain liable for if the car is damaged during your rental, beyond what the policy covers. It is set per vehicle and confirmed in your agreement before you sign, so you know the figure before you book.

Do younger or visiting drivers face different terms?

The age and licence-tenure rules are the same for every driver, resident or visitor. Non-EU licences need an accompanying international driving permit; ask at enquiry if you are unsure whether yours qualifies.

Can I book with less than 24 hours' notice?

No. We need at least 24 hours to prepare the vehicle, paperwork and handover logistics. In July and August the minimum rental period also rises to three days, to protect fleet availability during peak season.
